Mingoes cook Bamboo Shack 82-71 to end showcase season

Mingoes guard Kevaro Russell scored 26 points to lead The University of The Bahamas Mingoes to an 82-71 comeback win over Bamboo Shack Elite at the Kendal G Isaacs Gymnasium to close out the men’s basketball showcase season. Behind Russell’s 26-point contribution, Shemeco Albury scored 22 points, while Terrance Higgs added 17. John McKenzie snagged 11 rebounds in the win.
Mingoes bounce back to defeat NFS, avenge earlier season loss

Overcoming a ten-point defecit, the Ub Mingoes with two late cluctch three pointers from Kevaro Russell got revenge on Nassau Flight Services with a 88 - 85 win. Terreance Higgs and Kevaro Russell combined for 55 points in the win. To go along with his 30 points Higgs had nine rebounds and five assists. Russell posted 25 points five rebounds and four assists.

New comer John Mckenzie scored 38 points to lead the Mingoes in 90-85 win over Airport Authority Avengers Thursday night at The Kendall Isaccs Gym. Kevaro Russell scored 18 points along side Shemeco Albury with a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, Jarius Hall scoring 13 points.

Kevaro Russell, Terrence Higgs and newcomer John McKenzie combined for 83 points to lead The Mingoes to a 105-65 win over Freeport’s Shipping Connect team in Mingoes Showcase action Friday night at the St. George’s Gym. Russell lead all scorers with 36 points on the night while Higgs contributed 24 point and McKenzie scored 23 points. Jarius Hall also put up double digit with 11 points for the squad.

In a nail-biter with 14 lead changes, 11 ties and one overtime, The Mingoes lost 84-80 to the Bahamas Department of Corrections Challengers. With four players in double digits, The Mingoes could not take early advantage of the depleted Challengers. The Challengers forced overtime in the wanning minutes of the game and took full advantage in the overtime period to pick up the win.

Mingoes mens basketball used a fourth quarter surge to top The Royal Bahamas Defense Force Patrollers 79-66 in Showcase action. Kevaro Russell led the Mingoes with a career-high 34 points and seven rebounds. Terrance Higgs added 18 points to aid in the win. The Mingoes had to overcome a second quarter 13 point defecit to pull off the win.

Four Mingoes hit double figures as well in the competitive game: Terrance Higgs scored 21 points with seven rebounds; Jerehemiah Miller put up 19 points with eight rebounds; Kevaro Russell scored 18 with three assists and four rebounds; and Shemeco Albury scored 11 points with six assists and three rebounds.
