In a nail-biter with 14 lead changes, 11 ties and one overtime, The Mingoes lost 84-80 to the Bahamas Department of Corrections Challengers.
With four players in double digits, The Mingoes could not take early advantage of the depleted Challengers.
The Challengers forced overtime in the wanning minutes of the game and took full advantage in the overtime period to pick up the win.
Kevaro Russell put up 17 points for The Mingoes and Shemeco Albury scored 16 points to go with nine rebounds in the loss.
Jerehemiah Miller scored 14 points to go along with 10 boards before being fouled out of regulation with about two minutes to go. Patrick Curry had a big night as a starter with 10 points and eight rebounds in his first start as a Mingoe.
Head Coach Bacchus Rolle said the team fell short in the last minutes.
"We didn't have the ball movement that we wanted," he said. "Some of the guys were disoriented and didn't seem that they knew what they weren't sure what they wanted to do offence and we kept shooting a lot more than we needed to. At the end of the day if we are not going to move the basketball and get everybody involved then we are not going to win games."
The Mingoes next play The Dudley Boys 7 p.m. Friday January 9, 2025 at The St. George's High School Gym in Freeport Grand Bahama.
