Mingoes unpack Shipping Connect 105-65

FREEPORT, Grand BahamaKevaro Russell, Terrence Higgs and newcomer John McKenzie combined for 83 points to lead The Mingoes to a 105-65 win over Freeport's Shipping Connect team in Mingoes Showcase action Friday night at the St. George's Gym.

Russell lead all scorers with 36 points on the night while Higgs contributed 24 point and McKenzie scored 23 points.

Jarius Hall also put up double digit with 11 points for the squad.

For The Connect Shipping team, Travis Wildgoose led the team with 25 points—all but two in the second half of the matchup. Harold Pinder scored 11 points while Nathaniel Bain, Raymond Higgs and Dajhon Wildgoose each scored 10.

The Mingoes jumped out fast on Shipping Connect in the first quarter holding the Freeport squad to only nine points. Higgs and Russell put up 10 points each to put The Mingoes up 32-9 at the end of the first quarter.

The Mingoe were able to hold Connect Shipping to only 12 in the second quarter and went into the break up 59-21.

Connect Shipping found their legs in the third and dug in and got the game respectable in the third quarter—ending that period 78-52 Mingoes lead.

The Mingoes just too much as they held on for the 105-65 win.

"We came in to make a statement and redeem the squad from last year that took a loss" Higgs said.  "We came together and made the statement on the court."

The Mingoes next play The Dudley's Boys 7:30pm Saturday at The St. George's Gymnasium.
