Mingoes drop nail-biter to UIC Eagle Rays

DAVIE, Florida: In a game with eight lead changes and seven ties, The University of The Bahamas Mingoes dropped to the UIC Eagles Rays 82-79 Friday in showcase action at The David Posnack Jewish Community Center.

Four Mingoes hit double figures as well in the competitive game:  Terrance Higgs scored 21 points with seven rebounds;  Jerehemiah Miller put up 19 points with eight rebounds; Kevaro Russell scored 18 with three assists and four rebounds; and Shemeco Albury scored 11 points with six assists and three rebounds.

The Mingoes held the lead for much of the second half but a flurry of steals from The Eagles Rays converted to point to put them up at six points twice in the second half.

The Mingoes could not respond in the final minute despite going to the line three times.

The Mingoe play The Eagle Rays again 11 am Friday at The David Posnack Jewish Community Center.
