UB men's T&F wraps up international competition at USF Meet
The University of The Bahamas men's track and field team was in competition in the University of South Florida Invitational in Tampa, Florida on Friday and feircely competitive.
Head coach for UB men's track and field team said there were some strong performances."I like this meet as there are several NCAA Division I schools and it is very competitive," Rolle said. "They had to step their game up and they did."
Devilus Culmer and Rashad Evans kicked off the action for the team in the javelin throw. Culmer finished with a best throw 42.43 meters (m) (139-2) to place ninth overall. Evans was 12th after throwing 37.07m (121-7).
Jahlandon Wilson ran a personal and school best of 14.35 seconds in the 110m hurdles. He placed fourth in heat two and 11th overall.
Wilson came back and ran the 400m hurdles to place third in heat five when he clocked 55.62 seconds. He placed 18th overall. He was not happy with his run in this race.
Lhevinne Joseph stopped the clock on 48.76 seconds to place 27th overall. He was fourth in his heat.
"I am not completely disappointed," Joseph said. "I wish I ran faster. My splits looked good as I ran the first 200m split fast. I am still in good shape and overall, the race was easier that my previous race."
Jason Ferguson and multi-event specialist Devilus Culmer ran personal bests in the 400m Ferguson. Ferguson ran 49.10 seconds to finish 29th overall while Culmer ran 50.10 seconds to place 36th overall.
