UB men performs strong at Noble Prep meet

It was a strong showing by the University of The Bahamas Mingoes men's track and field team at the second annual Noble Preparatory Track and Field Meet Saturday at the Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium. 

UB saw a sweep in the Open men 800 meters (m) race led by Lhevinne Joseph who came out on top. He clocked 1:56.75 in his first 800m race this season. Jackson Ozias finished second in a time of 2:03.14 and rounding out the top-three position after stopping to clock at 2:05.89 was William Minors.

The field event saw UB finishing with the top-two positions in the Open men javelin throw event. Kendall Cooper held off Rashad Evans for the win with a throw of 47.15m (154-8 1/4). Evans had a strong day when he threw a personal best 45.98m (150-10 1/4).

Freshman Samuel Corbin won the Open men shot put throw with a best throw 11.39m (37-4 1/2).

Jackson and Minors were also in action in the Open men 400m. Jackson was fourth overall after he ran 51.30 seconds. Minors placed sixth overall in a time of 51.63 seconds.

George Minnis and Rashaa'd Farqhuarson were in action in the short sprints – 100m and 200m. The two finished closely with one-hundredth of a second separating them in the 100m dash. Farqhuarson placed eighth out of 28 in a time of 11.23 seconds while Minnis was ninth in 11.24 seconds. The 200m dash saw the two stopping the clock at 23.26 seconds to finish tied for 14th overall.
