Evans places second in open javelin, newcomer Corbin takes fourth in open discus
Rashad Evans takes second place in the men's javelin competition while newcomer Samuel Corbin picked up fifth in the discus competition at The Redline Track and Field Meet Saturday.
Evans said he felt good about his performance noting significant improvement from his throws in last week's competition. With a different atmosphere and wind conditions, Evans approached the meet with more confidence, which he said paid off.
He posted a personal best with a throw of 43.77 meters (143 feet, 7.5 inches) and placing second. It was a great showing of progress and skill.
Freshman thrower Samuel Corbin placed fifth in open men's discus with a best throw of 27.72m (90–11 1/2) to open his Mingoes campaign.
