Lhevinne Joseph leads Mingoes Men in season opener

Lhevinne Joseph picked up a second place finish in the Open Men's 400m as Mingoes men's track and field team saw it first action of the year at the 2024 T-Bird Flyers Track and Field Meet at the Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium.

Joseph won his heat in the open men's 400m in a time of 49.78 seconds to win his heat. He ran the second fast time overall.

"I ran comfortable for the most part," Joseph said. The goal was to get out as quick as I can and when I get to the back stretch, I can relax a little bit. I wanted to have enough to kick toward to final 200m to the finish line."

Joseph was back in action with his teammates – Malynte Clarke, Jackson Ozias and Michal Bullard in the mixed 4x400m relay. They clocked 3:45.87 to win that event. Finishing second to them was the Mingoes team of William Minors, Katranel Dean, George Minnis and Nancy Joseph. That team ran 3:50.14.

Minnis and Rashaad Farquharson were in the under-20/open 100m dash finals. Minnis finished third after posting a time of 11.55 seconds while Farquharson ran 11.70 seconds.

Ozias and Minors ran the under-20/open 800m middle-distance race in the first heat. Ozias was third after posting a personal best 2:02.59 and Minors was behind him in fourth after posting 2:07.51. Ozias was third overall and Minors was fifth overall.

Rashad Evans came in third in the under-20/open javelin throw after posting a personal best 41.60 meters.

Johnathan McClain was the only competitor in the under-20/open discus throw. His best throw was 32.32m (106' 1/2").
