Freshman Russell leads Mingoes in season opener win

Freshman Kevaro Russell led UB Men's Basketball with 25 points in the 96–50 win over Customs Taxmen in the season opener at Kendal Isaacs Gym.

Russell added 5 rebounds, with 5 assists to accompany his 25 points. Shameco Albury added 18 points and 7 steals, assisting in the win over Customs Taxmen.

Jerehemiah Miller contributed 13 points combined with 10 rebounds in the win.

Russell said the team liked the win, but the team could've executed better.

"We could've executed better on our offence," Russell said. "On the defensive end, we got a lot of stops and steals that helped us to go up on the offensive end."

Lorenz Carter contributed 10 points, along with 3 steals and 3 assists. Jarius Hall also put up 10 points, 5 steals, and 5 assists.

Zyle Smith scored 26 points for the Taxmen in the loss.

The Mingoes next play Crimestoppers 7 p.m. October 16 at The Kendal Isaacs Gym.
