Newcomer Nelson leads Mingoes at season-opener at Keiser University
WEST PALM BEACH, FL: UB cross country newcomer Bernechia Nelson lead the team at the with a 25.00.7 finish in the women's 5k event at the fourth annual Keiser University Invitational.
"It was rough for my first ever international cross country" she said. "During the race I started with the crew and just kept pushing. I passed a lot of other competitors and I just kept going. It was a good experience running internationally."
Najihah Mortimer was second in 26:03.4.
Sienna Mackey was the third fastest with at time of 27:40.7 and Marquell Newbold was fourth in 29:00.5.
UB did not field a complete team of five and did not compete in the team segment.
