Mingoes win two straight in NPVA action

After a 0-2 start the University of the Bahamas women's volleyball team secured a straight three-set victory over the Lady Aces in the New Providence Volleyball Association (NPVA) action.

Playing at the D.W. Davis Gymnasium, the Mingoes won 25-20; 25-19 and 26-24 to sport a 2-2 record on the season.

UB's captain and middle hitter, Anjeniker Joseph said ti feels good to get their second straight win.

"There are still some adjustments needed to be made," Joseph said. "We ran a good much number of plays tonight and were able to execute them. I feel more confident than I did before."

UB got off to a good start in the first set wining some service points to lead 12-8. They pushed that to 18-10 before Lady Aces try to pull themselves into the game. UB took the 23-17 lead and finished the first set 25-19.

The second set had the same flow as the first one with UB going up 8-4 early before extending it to 12-8. They then went up 18-14 before winning the second set 25-19.

The Lady Aces came out strong in the third set as expected and looked to extend the match. UB trailed 2-0 early in the match then the Lady Aces kept the lead at 14-8. UB trailed 20-18 as Joseph stepped up and got some key service points that put them up 23-20. The game was tied at 24 points apiece but UB won a point off Lady Aces error then outside hitter Hannah McBride smashed the final point for UB to win 26-24.

UB return to action Sunday, November 30 against Setsy Poppers at 3.30 p.m. at the D.W Davis Gymnasium.
