UB drops to Spikers
The University of The Bahamas women's volleyball team fell 3-1 to the Spikers Tuesday at the Kendal G L Isaacs Gymnasium in UB Volleyball Showcase.
They lost 25-22, 15-25, 25-19, 25-21 in a match where they were not able to built on the first set win.
UB took control of the first set early on and led 11-4. They went up 19-13 before a time out was called. After the timeout, they held on for the 25-22 victory to get off to a good start with the 1-0 lead.
UB had no response at the start of the second set as they put themselves in 4-0 hole. It was difficult for UB to come back in the set as the fell 25-15. The match was tied at 1-1.
UB played as stronger third set but the Spikers kept up their level of play to win the set 25-19. UB trailed 2-1 after three sets.
The fourth set saw several lead changes and ties. UB led 14-12 before the game got tied at 14 points apiece. Spikers took the 18-14 lead and Mingoes powered back to cut the lead down to one point 20-19. That was the closest UB came to the Spikers as they fell 25-21 on some missed defensive plays down the stretch.
UB will play the Warhawks Thursday at 7 p.m. It will be the final time these teams face each other in the UB Showcase.
