Mingoes not enough in loss to Warhawks
The University of The Bahamas women's volleyball team lost 3-0 in their final matchup against the Warhawks in the UB Volleyball Showcase Thursday at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.
They lost 25-19, 25-19 and 25-21 in a competitive match.
UB got off to a strong start in the first set going up 6-1. The Warhawks ran them down to take their first lead, 15-14 forcing UB to call a timeout. UB tried to regroup but the Warhawks won the first set 25-19 for the 1-0 lead in the match.
The second set saw UB going into an 8-1 hole. They were able to bounce back and make it a respectable game cutting the lead down to four points, 18-14. That was as close they got as the Warhawks ended up winning that set 25-19 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
UB came out on the break on a mission going up 13-4 as they look to extend the match. However, the Warhawks tied the game at 15 points before taking their first lead of the game, 17-16. UB went back up 19-18 but the Warhawks used their experience to take the 25-22 third set win. UB lost the match 3-0.
UB returns to action Tuesday, April 8 with a match against the Spikers at 7 p.m.
