Mingoes women compete at STU Under the Lights meet
The University of The Bahamas women's track and field teams got some podium finishes in their final international competition Friday at the St. Thomas University's Under the Lights meet in Miami Gardens. Florida.
Head coach for UB track and field Ednal Rolle said he was happy with the team's performance on the second week of back-to-back competition.
"We fared well having to come right back after they were dealing with exams and were not able to train as we wee accustomed to. They handled it well," Rolle said.
The 4x400 meters (m) women's relay team of Marquell Newbold, Kaiya Cambridge, Kendera Munroe and Malynte Clarke got the win in a time of 4:11.45.
Hurdler Kaiya Cambridge saved her best race of the season for last and ran a personal best of 15.27 seconds.
"I wanted to end the collegiate season with a sub-15 seconds performance but the time I ran was a personal best," Cambridge said.
Staying on the hurdles, Munroe ran the 400m hurdles and finished second with a time of 1:08.24.
Newbold was fourth in the women's 400m in a time of 1:00.94 while Clarke ran 1:03.65 to place fifth.
