Mingoes women compete at Noble Prep meet
The University of The Bahamas women's track and field team was busy at the 2nd Annual Noble Preparatory Track and Field Meet Saturday at the Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium.
Davia Musgrove leapt her way to a first-place victory in the Open women long jump event with a best leap of 5.08m (16-8).
Lauren Stuart took first place in the open women discus throw and was the only competitor in the open women shot put throw. Her best throw in the discus was 26.28m (86-2 3/4) and 8.06m (26-5 1/4) was her best throw in the shot put.
Marquell Newbold had a photo finish in the open women 200m dash. After the dust settled, she had to settle for a second-place finish with a time of 25.57 seconds – just one-hundredths of a second behind the winner. Newbold's teammate Malynte Clarke, Kendera Munroe and Katranel Dean were third, fourth and fifth respectively. Clarke ran 25.66 seconds, Munroe clocked 26.25 and Dean stopped the clock at 26.92 seconds.
Musgrove ran her first 100m dash for UB along with Nancy Joseph. Musgrove took third-place finish when she ran 13.04 seconds. Joseph ran 13.09 seconds.
Kaiya Cambridge ran a personal best of 15.41 seconds in the open women 100m hurdles to place second.
UB had four runners in the open women 400m dash – Clarke, Newbold, Michal Bullard and Dean. Clarke was the first UB athlete across the finish line when she stopped the clock on 59.54 seconds to finish second. Newbold was third in 59.82 seconds. Bullard ran 1:00.48 to place fourth and Dean was fifth with a time of 1:03.36.
