Sixty-four golfers braved the bad weather and a weather delay as the 2nd Annual Mingoes Golf Invitational powered by Fidelity is in the books this past Sunday at the Royal Blue Golf Course at Baha Mar Resort.

The foursome scramble tournament saw the team of John Reckley, J.P Michielsen, Glen Thompson and Richard Gibson Jr. coming away as the winners. They were able to finish with a total net score of 36.8.

"There were some long drives that did not come from me so that was perfect," Gibson said. "I didn't have to putt much and it only came down to two or three times. I could depend on my teammates. Making the putts was key."

Placing second was Mingoes men's basketball head coach, Bacchus Rolle, Larry Wilson, Chris Godet and former Mingoes men's soccer head coach Dion Godet. They finished with a total net score of 38.4.

Rounding out the top three position was the foursome of Omar Ramierez, Daniel Saralegui, Miranda Tucker and Sabastian Iberri. They had a net score of 44.3. Finishing a close second behind them in fourth were Jared Cartwright, Chadeau Wilson, Christopher Adderley and Glinton Larry with a score of 44.42.

"We were exceptionally pleased that we saw a lot of returners – persons who came back and supported the University. It was very encouraging and it was good to see newcomers. The sponsors made the day a huge success."

UB golfers Jonnashia Dorsett and Rachel Quant walked away with individual awards. Dorsett won Closest to Pin Award and Rachel Quant won the Longest Drive Award.

"The third hole was good," Dorsett said. "We had a set back on the course with the bad weather. My team and I did good out there by hitting a par on almost every holes."

"It was a bit challenging out there," Quant said. "If it was not the heat, it was the rain and other than that the team showed up and I did my thing. I am known to hit long drives but I didn't know if I was going to win it again."

Dunkin' was the gold sponsor. Lightbourne Trading and J.S. were with UB Athletics as Silver level sponsors for the invitational. Rolle thanked all the other sponsors – bronze and hole sponsors. She is looking forward to the 3rd Annual UB Golf Invitational.
