Mingoes struggles in 8-1 loss to Wildcats

The game did not went according to plan for the University of The Bahamas Mingoes women's softball team against the Sunshine Auto Wildcats as they fell 8-1 in the New Providence Softball Association prime-time action at Bankers' Field.

Third baseman Breana Hield scored the lone run on a strong baserunning at the top of the first inning to give them the 1-0 lead.
Head coach, Shayne Albury sees the team coming together and the pitching was better as they look for their first win.

"Different script same movie," Albury said. "We see a few things coming together. The pitching was a little better today, our defense was a little scatter which led to a few runs. The Wildcats had one or two hits to which we gave them kudos for as they were swinging the bats. We did not swing the bats as well as we could and we need to continue to work on that."

The Mingoes came away with two total hits in the game. Breana Hield finished 1-for-2 to go with a run and centerfielder and lead-off batter Nabria Hamilton also finished 1-for-2.

Leading the way for the Wildcats was pitcher Thela Stevens who went 2-for-3 to go with four runs batted in.

Next up for the Mingoes is a battle against the R&B Operators on Saturday, June 8 at 7 p.m.
