UB takes down Baha Jrs 2-0
The University of The Bahamas men's soccer team got their second straight victory in the Bahamas Football Association Men's Soccer League with a 2-0 win over Baha Juniors F.C Wednesday, November 13.
Playing at the Roscow A.L. Davies Soccer Fields, UB got goals from captain Marlon Barnes and Ronaldo Green in the win. Both goals came in the first half.
UB did most of their attacking in the first half as head coach, Alex Thompson had to make some adjustments to accommodate an injury to central defender Justin Minns. He also made second half changes to prepare for their next match which will be against Dynamos.
"We had our arguably best 11 players on in the first half," Thompson said. "The biggest difference in the second half was we had to move a player because of injury and protect players from suspension due to yellow cards. It was more a preparatory situation. Our build out was not as good and so were out chances to score."
Green was instrumental in this game as he sent a cross into the top of the 18-yard box in the 19th minute that Barnes controlled and kicked past the goalkeeper for the goal. UB led 1-0 at that point.
Twenty minutes later Green broke through Baha's defense from a pass from Barnes and scored a goal of his own to extend the lead to 2-0.
"I feel like I played a good game with a goal and an assist," Green said. "It is just about building momentum because we lost crucial players from last year and we are looking to rebuild."
Green played the rest of the game at the center back position for the injured Minns. Barnes was in the midfield and had some opportunities that did not get past the goalkeeper.
The clash against the undefeated Dynamos FC is for 7 p.m. Sunday, November 24.
