Mingoes fall 5-3 to Dynamos
The University of The Bahamas Mingoes men's soccer team suffered a tough 5-3 loss to Dynamos FC Sunday, November 24 at the Roscow A.L. Davies Soccer Fields.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for UB in the Bahamas Football Association Bahamas Men's Soccer League (BMSL). It was their second loss in the league where they also have two wins.
Midfielder Ronaldo Green scored two goals for UB while forward Marlon Barnes found the back of the net once.
Alex Thompson, head coach for UB said the team did not play as a unit.
"We had some individual performances that let us down. We lost many one-versus-one battles. Their three key players – Brandon (Adderley), Peter (Julmis) and Evelt (Julmis) know us quite well and they stepped up," Thompson said. "The fact that we were able to score and keep the game close after being down to 10 men speaks of the characters of the players on the pitch."
UB went up 1-0 in the 11th minute on a strike from captain Barnes. It came from a corner taken by Kevin Thomas.
Dynamos scored two minutes later. Two more goals before the half from Dynamos put them in the driver's seat with a 3-1 lead at the intermission.
UB came out of the break creating more chances and were finally able to cut into the deficit on a goal from Green in the 49th minute. They were able to swing the momentum their way, but Dynamos got past UB in the 60th and 70th minute to put the game out of reach with a 5-2 lead.
Green struck again in the 81st minute to cut the lead to 5-3. That was the last goal for both teams in the game.
Mingoes return to action at 4.30 p.m. Sunday, December 1 against Western Warriors Gladiators.
