Mingoes topple Bears 6-4

The University of The Bahamas men's soccer team toppled the Insurance Management Bears 6-4 for their fourth win in the Bahamas Football Association Bahamas Men's Soccer League on Sunday, December 8.

Picking up the hat-trick for UB was midfielder Ronaldo Green. In-form striker, Marlon Barnes added two more goals to his season tally and midfielder Kevin Thomas picked up a goal.

Green was able to penetrate the Bears defensive line in the 21st minute and got the ball past the goalkeeper. UB saw a few more chances after that goal but none got past the goalkeeper. Barnes sent a pass to Green in the 43rd minute where Green controlled it at the top of the 18-yard box before dribbling past the defense to strike it past the goalkeeper. Mingoes led 2-0.

UB led 2-0 at the half.

Thomas got the scoring going five minutes into the second half on a well-placed shot past the goalkeeper. Green got the assist. At the 54th minute mark, Barnes scored his first goal of the match with a right-foot strike on an assist from Green to put UB up 4-0 and in the driver's seat.

Bears cut into the deficit in the 63rd minute with a goal of their own but Green completed his hat-trick a minute later to give his team a 5-1 lead. Bears scored again in the 68th minute to make it 5-2 in favor of UB. Barnes dribbled the ball into Bears' 18-yard box to send the ball far post and past the goalkeeper to make it 6-2 in the 72nd minute.

Bears got two more goals and, in the end, UB won 6-4 to sport a 4-2 win/loss record on the season.
